even among intelligent atheists/agnostic/arelgious/pagan people you find plenty who believe in stuff like ancient aliens, which is pretty similar imo.

Like, there is research on this--im sorry you never read a geology textbook but of all the mysteries of the universe there is basically no mystery about the construction of the pyramids at giza or about the age of the earth. It's extremely easy to find those answers.

Some people also believe that God is perfect and never changing, but also that the old testament God behaved differently from the new testament God.

That's fine because it was all part of God's plan.

A very fair point. If you believe in that rubbish, you don't get to laugh at YECs

There was a Trumper on 261 who claimed to be a published chemist who was also a YEC. He also believed that giants built the pyramids.

So, there's a LOT going on in this thread already, which is remarkable really because it just got began

However

I want to point out that it's become very very common knowledge (thanks internet. Thanks dad.) that the human heart of religious organizations has essentially always been a scam or sham. One of the two. That goes for like modern religions, since we can't tell what happened way back then because the evidence is really gone and we don't know why. For more recent'ish things, the evidence was known to be destroyed or hidden, shaping public opinion and giving power to the churches and whatnot. Despite what they actually believed....

.... So there's a big misunderstanding that's creating a lot of nihilism, long story short

Agree?

You can't be an advanced person and think there isn't a purpose, isn't a god, isn't anything, isn't good, etc. We aren't really that violent as a whole. However, leadership is still very military and there's a lot of fighting that results in death, so those people's experience also shapes our beliefs

..... Even if it has NOTHING to do with your life, by design. Don't ask, don't tell. I'm not putting that the right way, but it's meant to protect us from behind a veil of secrecy and discretion. And anyway

You're gonna tell other advanced (or more advanced) beings in the universe/on earth/near earth what? That there's no god and you're ready to shake some heads and break some hearts for Big Bro?

It's funny because you can break the illusion of Genesis by asking a very simple question: if a human being wrote this book, how could he or she have witnessed the events first-hand if there was nothing before creation? The account HAS to be hearsay.

the sad part about conspiracies is that the people imbibing in them think they're smarter than people who don't

so the insanity gets highly concentrated because admitting something doesn't make sense threatens putting you in the "people who don't" category

I find the feud between Young Earth Creationist and Flat Earthers to be entertaining. Almost all flat earthers are YECers but most YECers hate Flurfs. They think the Flat Earth movement exists only to make their beliefs look dumb. Not realizing that their beliefs are already dumb.

No, Im referencing your talk of advanced beings and your completely unsubstantiated conclusion that there must be a god/purpose and that it would be ridiculous to think otherwise.
