I lost all interest when it was said to be a musical. I hope those that look forward to it like it though.

Where have you been for the last hundred and fifty bajillion trillion million years of film adaptations? Did you think for some reason this one time they wouldn't just make up something completely new and slap an existing IP on it? Really? The two broad categories of film adaptation are as follows:

1. They made up something completely new and slapped an existing IP on it.

2. Zack Snyder's Watchmen.

Joker: Folie Deux director Todd Phillips has confirmed that while his sequel is not a full musical, music will be an "essential element."

Phillips shared the news during Warner Bros.' CinemaCon presentation while finally speaking on the reports that said this second Joker film would be a musical. He said the team never really talked about Joker: Folie Deux being a full musical, but that music would play a big part. Furthermore, he said the movie won't "veer" too far from the original and that Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck has always had "music in him."

This is a weird post, my guy. I don't think you understood my post, and I'll tell you again what I've told you before - please read before posting.

Plenty of adaptations have scripts written as said adaptation from the ground up - in terms of say, superhero movies, none of the MCU movies felt like another script that just had the characters jammed in. Joker felt like the script was written as something else entirely then the Joker elements were shoehorned in just to get the script out the door.

Ok thats kind of cool. There are some bits of things I like in shows like Scrubs singing guy love but I still didnt care much for the episode. But for the most part I always turn off any music segment.

She acts nothing like the Harley in the hbo cartoon or the suicide squad movies. She doesn't even act like the Harley in the 90s Batman cartoon. This is a realistic take on the character. Its not edgy or full of meme humor. Did you see the original Joker movie?

I did watch that, yeah.

I went into the first Joker movie mostly blind, and I really liked it, so I'm trying to do the same for the sequel and have only seen the first trailer for it.

also, remember that in the first joker there was a lot of unreliable narrator, where he was hallicinating/imagining events. the same could happen here but with harley imagining the relationship as way more romantic than it actually is

That too and it could be that the romance and abuse are there too in this one all things considered but with a trailer for a potential 2 hour ish movie one has to consider we arent seeing all angles anyhow.

We've seen 2 teasers. We have no idea how it all plays out

I was on board with it being a musical until I found out it was using pop songs instead of originals.

Jukebox musicals are just too corny even for me.

Yeh, the first movie even had an entire relationship play out in Joker's head. Who's to say the romantic scenes from the teasers aren't also something playing out in his head?

Apparently the guy at the beginning talking about the events of Joker 2 years prior is Harvey Dent according to the subs WB provided, which is interesting I suppose.

2 no no the joker is not mentally ill he is very aware of what he is doing he knows the things he does is wrong and does them any ways because he is a monster

lets look at the other grounded take on the joker from the dark knight which made it very very clear he is not mentally ill in any way shape or form

Yeah Jukebox musicals tend to have the unfortunate reception of just being flat out lazy, but I do have hope that this movie will deliver on its premise.
