My post was about if your post was at me. If it's not, then you can ignore my post.

What it's about, is based on the existing discussion.

I never said it was. I just said refusing to tip when it's (legitimately) expected is a dick move.
there is no such scenario where expecting a tip in and of itself is not the actual dick move

The actual cultural thing is tipping is voluntary. Not mandatory.

The cultural thing is that it's expected.

NatsuSama posted...
Also spare me the decency moral superiority angle given your stance on people who make 7.25 tipping

My stance is that they're expected to tip like everyone else.

NatsuSama posted...
It's not

It literally is. "It's relevant because it's relevant" is literally, by definition, a meaningless tautology.

NatsuSama posted...
Demanding someone who makes less than the server to tip or you will shame them through gatekeeping they shouldnt eat out is a dick move.

I never said they shouldn't eat out. I said they shouldn't use businesses where tipping is expected if they don't plan to tip. Learn to read. If someone making minimum wage wants to go to a full service restaurant, just like literally anyone else, they should budget the tip into the meal. But like I said, when I made minimum wage I made my own meals. I couldn't afford to eat out, tip or no.

NatsuSama posted...
And I don't care you made minimum wage before. That literally changes nothing I said.

It defeats this stupid notion of yours that I have some vendetta against minimum wage workers.

NatsuSama posted...
the discussion is about people who make less than the bartenders.

No it isn't. It never was. You're the only one trying to force this irrelevant angle about who makes more than who. I guarantee you I've tipped workers who make more than I do, both when I made minimum wage and when I didn't. This is completely irrelevant and you can't explain how it is. You also keep dodging the question of where your outrage is for minimum wage customers being served by non-tipped workers who make more than they do.

Bottom line: tipping is not required, but stiffing service workers when you know a tip is part of the pay is a dick move. Calling a dick move a dick move isn't shaming or gatekeeping. It's simply stating a fact.

It's simply stating a fact.
Given you don't know what the word fact means, the moral superiority angle you got going on makes more sense.

Especially given you keep uselessly telling me about what YOU would do when YOU made minimum wage. It's a fun fact about yourself that changes nothing. You formerly or even currently being a minimum, literally doesn't change your notion that the you want to call the 7.25 worker a dick for not tipping.

The server who also makes 7.25 plus tips, demanding the person likely making less than them on average is a dick for expecting, demanding and shaming someone who makes less than them, to tip them. Again, the server legally must take home 7.25 after tips. So the server can make 7.25 plus, while the grocery cashier will always make 7.25. Your attitude is still fuck the grocery work making 7.25, because YOU personally would want to make sure the server makes more than the grocery worker.

Because again, by legally by default, the bartender makes the same as the grocery worker even without tips. With tips, the bartender can potentially make more.

What you would personally do doesn't change anything. It's still a dick move to get a moral superiority complex based on what was discussed.

No, I know what it means. Needlessly defying a social and cultural expectation that leads to punishing a worker is textbook selfish and antisocial behavior, i.e. a dick move.

Tipping culture is why I won't ever bother going out to eat. The whole restaurant culture BASURA can kindly fuck off. Overpriced food and on top of that they want you to tip a specific percentage added? Nah fuck that, most restaurants can go out of business for all I care, not sure why they're immune to criticism for running a bad business. If any other business can't pay their employees then people have zero issue with that business going out of business lol

1) A "cultural expectation" doesn't make something factually okay. Especially when you stick your head in the sand that holier than thou stance that has you not giving a crap about those making less than that bartender. That bartender who's making the same if not more than the 7.25 grocery worker.... thanks to tips. With you feeling the grocery store worker stuck at 7.25 is irrelevant....they should stay home or tip. All because YOU personally wouldn't mind making sure the bartender make more than you. As again, the bartender is legally going to be paid 7.25 regardless if you tip or not, so it's a question will they get to 7.26+.

2) That isn't what the word, fact means.

It appears your basis in what a fact is appeal to numbers.

Stiffing tipped workers is a dick move.

How much the customer makes is entirely irrelevant.

You are wrong.

The only way to end tipping culture is to stop going to places that encourage tipping, and stop using Uber Eats type apps. The lack of business will hurt the workers, but it'll also hurt the corporations.

Why, exactly? Lots of bold, definitive-sounding statements, but very little (if any) actual explanation going on here.
