Trump gonna get immunity tomorrow sad really

Unofficial acts are not protected at all.

This scotus just destroyed every federal agency the last week.

The court has marked the Pence interactions as zero immunity.

Immunity for official acts and no immunity for unofficial acts. The case goes back to Judge Chutkan to weed out which parts of the indictment to continue on, from what I understand.

I will need to read the full thing later.

Correct. This is going to result in Chutkan declaring all of these things non official acts, trump will appeal, it'll go back to the supreme Court, and by then the election is long since over.

This delays the trials, as most suspected.

Yeah, as much as I'm very tempted to be doom and gloom about this, on the surface it essentially sounds like 'the POTUS is immune from prosecution for any lawful acts.'

Quoting my post in another topic for posterity.

It punts the issue back to the trial court for further fact finding. Which means we're going to be doing this song and dance for at least another year and a half. Meaning that the chief dip shit will, if he wins, either instruct his AG to dismiss or outright pardon himself for any potential wrongdoing, sparking another constitutional crisis. Or he dies first.

SCOTUS did nothing but kick the can down the road so it doesn't have to do shit.

The way the wording is ruled though is sounds like this doesn't impact Documents or Georgia's RICO at all.

Official acts. They don't necessarily have to be lawful.

This is pretty much what I was expecting and was posting about the other day. Sending back to Judge Chutkan to adjudicate which acts are official and which acts aren't. Buying Trump more time.

Neither is likely impacted, albeit for different reasons. The documents case cannot reasonably be construed to involve official acts (although don't sell Cannon short). In both cases, however, there will need to be further fact finding. This appeal was purely a question of law on to what extent, if at all, a president, former or sitting, may be prosecuted. We have zero clarity on the scope of application of the immunity in the case here.

Biden could make an official act to lock trump up for national security by this ruling.

I guess I dont know how else they could have ruled? This country has a long history of presidents doing illegal things as official acts.

Well the acts of the documents case did not happen under presidential privilege. She seemingly has a knack for finding the dumbest way to delay things though so who knows.

So Trump could have legal MAGA death squads, this is insane!

Not quite, they say not all of a president's acts are official, but start with something they call "presumptive immunity" until it can be proven that he should not be immune for said act.

Scotus refusing to actually make a ruling in many of these cases to set precedent has created an actual division in the Supreme Court.

Jackson and Kagan have absolutely shit all over the maga justices. I've never seen such dissents as we've seen the last few days. Hearing a judge say that the other judges are fighting for power and corruption is astonishing.

Perhaps they stop protecting the shield and start commenting on the other justices taking bribes.

That's why biden needs to win in 2024 and dems in 2028. Those 2 elections completely change the dynamic of this court.

Those 2 elections will be deciding 5 possible seats, over half the court.
