Cost, probably. Indoor sports halls are a lot more expensive to build and maintain than a field with some grass or astroturf.

Whatever trophies that team has won are in spite of him, not because of him. Not only do MANY people die of heatstroke everyday, but water is essential when you're doing that kind of work. Not even just for not getting heatstroke either. It's an essential element of muscle growth and muscle recovery.

Not having water is literally making these kids weaker, not stronger.

Most people are "fine" albeit suboptimal at whatever they're doing, until they're not. It can creep up incredibly quickly and absolutely is a medical emergency. It's also really easy to reduce the chances of this happening by simply taking breaks and having water. When we're talking about kids playing games, forcing them to do that in scorching heat without breaks and water borders on reckless endangerment.

There's nothing manly or noble about needlessly putting yourself or others in danger.

Yeah as said I'm sure Texas is far worse than what I dealt with. I was in virgina at the time. Not near a coast so humidity wasn't too bad.

If I lived where I live now that would be pure hell. I practically live on the coast. I was just wanting to mention I had a similar coach and he did practice what he preached. I don't think I've ever seen him drink anything.. like ever

This coach does mention when he deems necessary. I would hope he can tell when a kid legit needs water but based off the rest of the tweet I doubt that.

Lots of schools do that I have heard. Some idiotic policy. They think the actual student can't be trusted with their own life saving device. Pretty sure some asthmatic kids have died due to that policy

It's one thing during normal classes but gym should be a no brainer on having it close by. Cause when's the most likely time they are gonna get a asthma attack? Especially since he was like 300 lbs

Sadly I would wager a fair bit of them agree with him. This is also the type of asshole to say climate change aint real while ignoring that year after year we are breaking records for the heat.

There's a word for dying to the temperature outside. It's called Death By Exposure. Maybe less people die from it that die from Diarrhea but hey it happens.
