I feel like a lot of rich people being miserable is self evident in their behaviour. They're some of the biggest assholes and only seem to be happy when they're ruining the lives of others.

This is admittedly conjecture, as I haven't looked at any studies regarding happiness among the wealthy.

I have no idea, I'm sure its been answered in the topic, but I can't bother to go through 11 pages of answers lol. I liked him, as his bowling show had genuinely funny guests. I would have picked him or Wil Wheaton for the hosting job over Seacrest. Christ I would pick a rotting piece of lumber soaked in gasoline over Ryan Seacrest.

Hardwick's ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra published an essay on Medium on June 14, 2018, in which she alleged that she had been subjected to emotional and sexual abuse by an unnamed ex-boyfriend, and claimed that she was subject to career blacklisting in retaliation for ending the relationship. The essay did not name the abuser, but the timing and several key details led readers to conclude it was Hardwick. In response, Nerdist removed all mentions of Hardwick from its website while AMC announced that further episodes of Talking with Chris Hardwick would be pulled. Hardwick also stepped away from moderating all AMC and BBC America panels at San Diego Comic-Con.

On July 25, 2018, AMC announced that a comprehensive investigation conducted alongside law firm Loeb & Loeb had failed to confirm Dykstra's allegations and that Hardwick would return as host of Talking Dead and Talking with Chris Hardwick. Same. Such a shame, because he seems like a really classy guy and never looked like he had a bias or resentment towards any contestant, regardless of their background.

"Time and a place" would make sense if he died or something, but he's just retiring. Acting like people are only allowed to say nice things about somebody who is retiring is pretty silly.

Telling people "there's a time and a place" is definitely more of a demand than a suggestion, since it's outright trying to shame them.

Yeah, this really does feel like the end of a whole era. Not just the "Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune" era, but that whole style of game show hosting has slowly eroded away.

Current hosts are awesome, too. Love Steve Harvey on Family Feud, for example. But that old era was something totally unique and the energy can't be replicated by imitators.

It's also pretty silly to act like you're only allowed to say nice things about somebody who died, tbh. If somebody was a complete and total shitheel who dedicated their lives to making other lives around them worse, they don't deserve a nice memorial.

I don't necessarily disagree. I was just giving an example where "There's a time and a place" COULD make sense, as an argument. Somebody retiring is... Not, at all, a situation where it works.

EDIT: Hell, if anything, being in the position where you can retire as you wish is a very, very positive, well off kind of thing, which makes "There's a time and a place" even more of a bizarre argument.
