I just finished chapter 3 last night. Loving it. Some of the new tracks don't hit as hard as the originals though, like Rawk Hawk's battle theme.

Its hard for to top the original, to be fair.

Still waiting for my copy to arrive.

I am absolutely loving it. Was nice to include the retro music badge as well.

I play these games slow tho. Just finished chapter 2. I got 20 floors down into the pit of 100 trials. I want to grab some of the rewards early

As someone who enjoyed both the original Paper Mario and Super Paper Mario, but somehow missed TTYD the first time around, I'm loving the remake.

They cut half the backtracking out of chapter 4, praise be. Now hopefully chapter 5 has something similar.

My buddy spoiled some content for me which makes me sad, but I'm so excited to play it more.

Its been great so far, but Im still in chapter one. Theres just a ton of small things that make this great. Everything is polished and new.

I'm doing something I have done before which is level up BP only and super guard only, working out well so far

Amazing, enemies carry items and badges so much more now, which makes the fights more interesting. The only real downside is the slightly slower battle system. The delays with star power is kinda annoying. Also the change to entering pipes is odd, going down a pipe requires the A button now, but going sideways into a pipe doesnt.

Based on what my homie told me on Discord, there's a new boss you get an email about who's stats are at least 6 Attack and 6 defense, as well as there being a new boss at the bottom of the Pit AFTER you defeat Bonetail.

And as far Power Bounce goes, it was the single strongest badge in the entire game, free. There was literally no reason to ever use the hammer once you got the Super Boots in late Chapter 2. Doubly so with spiked enemies with Spike Shield. You could use charge and then power bounce to do 6 HP for 5 FP, or you could use 2? Or 3 FP and do infinite damage to non-boss enemies because you hit an extremely lenient frame window 8 times in a row.

Especially when you get into Danger Mario strats suddenly you can two turn entire chapter bosses due to a combo of Rush badges and power bounce. BP only is literally the easiest way to play the game because of it.

No, that's chapter 2. I'm not sure what the exact changes there are, but the Punis felt a lot less annoying to guide around. No randomly losing a couple just when walking around, and the puzzles where you had to use Flurrie to blow them off ledges felt a good bit better.

I already replayed this game as recently as 2016, but now... now I'm wondering, do I really want to rebuy this game on Switch and play it? All the paper mario talk is kinda making me want to jump back in, this is just like when re 4 talk made me want to bust out my wii and play the game again.

This is purely selfish, but please buy the game. We haven't had a turn based PM game since TTYD so this selling well may make them make another one (okay I guess OK was turn based kinda but its not the same)

Also, it's just fun. It's TTYD of course it's good. Other than the 30 fps thing I've heard nothing but praise about it. Less backtracking in Chapter 4. Less annoying Puni shenanigans in Chapter 2, etc.

Did my initial playthrough on remake, after 10 years of not playing the gamecube version, as a successfully completed Pre-Hooktail Pit of 100 Trials run, and now I'm gonna plow through the game 20 levels higher than I should be for fun, lmao.

According to the soundtrack uploads, you apparently fight Whacka and Prince Mush as extra optional bosses.

Damn this game goes by fast. I'm trying to stretch it out but I'm already on chapter 5.

Yeah I noticed the battles feel slightly slower, maybe due to the framerate? Not even done with chapter 1 but it's a great nostalgic visit. Beautiful graphics too.

Its not the framerate, it is the slight delay when the star power goes up to the bar.
