Who else is watching it? I haven't been to the theater since the Mario movie I think. IMAX and everything to fully enjoy it.

I loved Fury Road, so Ill definitely check this out.

I heard its not as good as Fury Road so Ill likely wait for home release. Man Ill never forget seeing Fury Road in theaters. It was amazing.

It never was the script has been made for years and WB are to blame here. We would have had a 3rd film released by now if it wasn't for them being greedy. I'm not sure if you're familiar with what happened between Miller and WB.

I keep seeing the trailer on reddit and thinking it's that Wildling lady that hung out with Bran.

People would have called Fury Road "woke" if the term was common back than. I remember "mad maxipad" we had people whining about the film being feminist propaganda before they actually watched it.

Yeah. People absolutely criticized Fury Road before it came out because Max was a little cuck boy and Furiosa was the main character and better than him.

Also, people who call shit Woke tend to be stupid, so just having a female character is enough for them... until it's successful then they try to coopt it as being anti-Woke somehow.

Yes it was. The sound and visuals were something else. Not missing Furiosa on the big screen.

Seeing it this weekend. The reviews seem high enough to me that indicates that it's pretty darn good (although that doesn't really matter to me, I was going to see it anyway). Can't wait.

Saw it today, wasn't as good as Fury Road but considering how high that bar is it's unexpected, and it's wisely not trying to be Fury Road either. Like how they built the world more by going further into the greater interactions of the wasteland's outposts like Gastown and the Bullet Farm, and I really love the fate of Dementus. Couldn't happen to a more pleasant guy.

Just saw it today and pretty much agree with this post.

I will say I found it kind of strange that Anya Taylor-Joy isnt in the movie that much. Shes only in it for like an hour or less of the runtime. Wasnt the biggest fan of that, but not a huge deal. Still a great movie, just definitely not as good as Fury Road.

It went up to 90% from critics

No doubt it's going to be good, but I hope the CGI doesn't take me out of the movie. What made the last movie so good was that the chereography looked great with almost all the action scenes being practical effects.

You were assuming I would call it woke but because it's "successful" it's not woke anymore according to "me" even though you said it. I don't know if you know this but the boxoffice numbers haven't been posted anywhere at all regardless of the numbers the movie isn't woke. Not that hard to understand.

Fantastic film.

One thing I am curious about, is what the rest of the world looks like. This starts with a shot of Australia and then a zoom in, so how do the other continents look? I'd be down with an Asian Mad Max or Mexican.

When I saw the ending, my first thought was: George Miller played Deadly Premonition, didn't he?

Awesome movie, btw. Not quite as good as Fury Road, but it excelled at doing its own thing.

Fantastic movie. I gave it a 9 on Letterboxd:

Mad Max gone epic. I wasn't sure if that mix would work, but it does. This movie probably wasn't needed from a story standpoint, but it was definitely needed as a vehicle for more fantastic imagery, batshit characters, and kick ass action - the parachute scene, oh my God. Anya Taylor Joy was great, but Chris Hemsworth steals every scene he is in with an almost unrecognizable performance as Thor's demented clone.

It's a great movie, but I had a lot of problems with the story and editing. Large sections are glossed over with no real payoff. It moves very weirdly in places and it leaves quite a few questions.

But no one creates a world like this and does action scenes as well. Go see it just for Hemsworth.

There is a windows tool called "Snipping Tool." If you don't have windows I am sure easy alternatives exist too.

What I am saying is, you didn't need to say this, you just need to snip the small part of the screen with the moderation in question if someone is actually making a fuss for some reason (and you care enough to respond).

But yes, mods can be... inconsistent. Especially recently, as the only two moderations I have had the past 5 years or so were... last month.

Really good. Not as great as fury road, but quite close and a worthy prequel.

Yeah, you kind of realize that when his son is trying to make moves on you when you're a kid and he barely cares, and he chucks you into the same vault with his wives when he acquires you like a slave in a trade deal, where you immediately witness what happens to the wives if they don't give birth to a good child.

All I can hear from the movie is Anya complaining about never being more alone in her life. She wouldn't last long in solitary confinement

Why wouldnt she hate him? She didnt much of a personal beef with, but she comes from a much more civilized town and she knows how much of a shit he is.

WB are the bullies here. They said that with Fury Road they had gone over the budget turns out they didn't and were promised more money because of that. WB didn't deliver with the promise, the Oscars happen and Fury Road goes 6/10 and WB now wants to give them the money only for Miller to them Fuck you I want more now because we won all these awards and a better deal for future films. Years later WB caves in because all the DC stuff failed. Had they kept the promises from the start we would have had Furiosa around 2018 and Mad Max 5 around 2020 then COVID happens and delays Mad Max 6 to 2024 which is where we would be at right now. Miller himself has said that the scripts had already been done for years and they were just waiting to agree to a new deal.

I saw it at a cheap, kind of run down theater that had old, second hand seats. It was the perfect room to watch a Mad Max movie.

Not really, he bartered for her to be a brood mare when she became fertile, then almost got raped by one of his sons, then hid away and became a warboy/driver/mechanic.

Joe never treated her well until she fooled him long enough to become valuable to him without the need of being a vessel.
