I already own and beat it multiple times so probably not. I really enjoyed the game, but it's not like Chrono Trigger or classic Final Fantasy games which I can play through them multiple times on multiple platforms.

I already have it preordered at Best Buy for in store pick up, I will be picking it up Thursday at my local BB after work on Thursday.

thats what I was hoping for with SMRPG, I played it for the first time this year hoping it would be like Chrono Trigger or the old FFs, but it felt more like babys first RPG. Still cute though

Exceedingly unlikely. I had no interest in the original, so no interest in this one either. Plus, I dont have a modern Nintendo console.

99% of stuff in entertainment media that the West interprets as trans is originally crude cross-dressing humour in Japanese. Birdo was probably meant to be the same standard punchline but because Nintendo didn't push the joke hard enough (coupled with the English translations) it was more ambiguous and the idea that Birdo/Catherine is trans took hold. Poison from Street Fighter/Final Fight was also made trans because of English translation. Although I'm not sure why fighting trans people is less offensive than fighting strong women for people that are upset about that sort of thing, even in the 90s.

I'd rather have it on modern hardware and I don't mind sending a message that this style of Paper Mario is very much wanted, rather than the crap we've gotten in recent years.

A new TTYD style Paper Mario game would be an absolute blessing but Nintendo doesn't seem to care to do that.

Already own it on GameCube.

Right? That summed up my feelings exactly. I don't regret the chance playing it again but the nostalgic rush wasn't really there.

I don't think I want it because it looks like they didn't really add anything. It's the same game... but 30 fps.

It's mostly the same with some quality of life changes, dynamic music, artwork gallery, music player, and two new superbosses

I'm sorry. I am aware that I have contributed little, if at all, to discussions these past couple of days. It's just that I haven't been feeling all that well.

No, it's a great game but the original is not really dated enough that a ground-up remake was really justified.

It feels really wacky that they reprogrammed the whole game in a different engine just to essentially make an exact copy with shinier graphics. I would probably rather play the original since it runs at a higher framerate.

I am probably in the minority since I am extremely apathetic about graphical fidelity but I feel that a remake is usually not better if they don't make big changes to the control scheme or game design overall.

Best case scenario is a remake of an older game in a series that has evolved drastically since then... Like with Pokemon FRLG and HGSS, they both had a perfect template of what the game mechanics and QOL should be like in order to modernize the experience. And they can recreate the world around that instead of sticking to a "faithful" direction which ends up being a $80 texture pack.

I've got a huge backlog of games I still need to play, which will take me a full year of consistent playing to clear through. So the obvious answer is, yes I will be buying it.

in a game meant for kids yeah. what is the point of them telling people they're a woman, if they're just going to tell you they were born male, why not just have them tell you they're male and dress feminine? or jus tell you they're a woman? they're trying to trick you basically by giving you options

because with the mario rpg remake, and now the paper mario remake, the engine work and assets are done, sequels can be made now more easier than starting from scratch with an unknown and untested new title

Well I never played the GC version.

Looking at the prices for that version on eBay and its about the same or more then the Switch version.

Id like to play it but I wouldnt pay more then $30~ or so for it.

So I will wait for a sale or cheaper eBay copy of the Switch version, no rush at all for me.

Action commands will have less precision in how large or small the timing windows are. And knowing Nintendo they'll opt on the side of larger, which I don't like. So yeah it matter.

Also just a nitpick here, but 30 fps vs 60 fps IS PERFORMANCE. So even if I read your comment at face value it's technically incorrect.

no, and a lot of the timing stuff is actually easier now

idk i still bought it today. 30fps doesnt bother me much but a 640p does on a 4k tv.

i never played the GameCube version and have heard how amazing this game is for the last 20 years. I havent started it yet. someone hype me up on it

I don't legally own the gamecube game and never actually beat it, so eventually, yes. I need to beat TotK first though.
