I got new glasses today, and they're giving me a headache. I'm thinking about switching to my old glasses for some relief. It's been a long time since my last pair, so my prescription has changed quite a bit. Just don't want to be feeling like this at work tomorrow.

I've never had that issue, the prescription is always an immediate improvement.

Maybe my prescription is too strong or not correct? I guess I'll give it a few days. If it doesn't get better, I'll let the optometrist know.

There could be reasons like the glass being much bigger or smaller than before, same for the prescription. Also the thickness of the glass. If you go from thick to the ultimate possible reduction...or viceversa, it could take a few days. Last time it happened to me was cause I went with big glasses and it took a while to get adjusted to them. But you should be seeing sharper anyway.

I have work glasses since 91 and contacts since 96.

It should take no time of the rx is right. That is my experience. If lenses or glasses are hard to adjust to, I immediately report the situation to the doc.

This is not medical advice.

The lens are bigger on my last pair. I figured that's why the peripheral is slightly distorted on the new pair. I do see sharper when I look directly at objects from front view, but the peripheral vision from the lens is blurry.

That's normal, it'll take a while to adapt.

The pair I got before my current pair it took about a week. It was so bad at times it made me nauseous.

This current pair didn't affect me at all.

My newest pair are bifocals and it took a few days to adjust. It was suggested by the eye doctor that it was ok to switch to my old glasses when doing stuff like driving or walking down stairs until I got used to the new strength and dealing with bifocals in general. They weren't significantly stronger than my old pair, but the old ones were at least 10 years old by that point.

I only get headaches when my glasses are too small and apply too much pressure on the sides of my head. Never had anything to do with prescription changing.

My prescription changing never bothered me when I got new glasses.

Can you see out of the new pair of glasses?

My last 3 pairs of glasses I have gotten in the states have all came back wrong the first time, and not only could I not see out of them, but they caused headaches/migraines.

I have a pretty high prescription at -8.5. I just don't think they can make glasses thin enough for me without them being crazy expensive. I don't know.

I wear my contacts pretty much 24/7. I've tried sticking it out with my glasses for a week or so but I feel sick and uncoordinated. The ground is always warped. Pretty much anything in my peripheral is. I get bright yellow or blue halos around objects.

It sucks. My contacts generally don't cause me any issues but once or twice a year my eye will get super sore and weepy and light feels like hell. I take them out for a couple of days and it clears up. Doctors insist my eyes are still healthy.

I should get surgery but I'm already in crippling debt lol.

I can see fine when I look straightforward. When I look out the sides of the lens, it's distorted and blurry. And yes, I do have a bit of a headache.

I never needed to adjust after my very first pair in grade school.

It could be that your lenses maybe are just radically different from your old thats causing the issue. maybe theyre a bit stronger or weaker?

If it last more than a few days, I would for sure call up, but it could be just a change in prescription. As long as you can actually see out of them, if the headache get too bad, don't be afraid to take off your glasses and lay down and close your eyes for a bit.

I've been wearing glasses for 36 years. It's not always the same, but sometimes it's just a few hours sometimes a few days. It's ok to wear your old glasses a few hours each days.

It was pretty much instant as a kid.

Going off them was about a week or so, but that is because I didn't get LASIK and got the older, safer option PKR or PRK whichever, which is safer long term but does require that you basically be laid up a week and have a bunch of audio books and such to pass the time with until your eyes' protective layer regrows.

I chose sherlock holmes.
