I wasn't a kid but from a gaming standpoint early 2000's will always be remembered by me as the last time where single player/offline gaming was pretty much the entire focus. Then just a few years later online became the standard and started the shift towards multiplayer and all the DLC/microtransaction focus we see now that I don't care for.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not acting like one was perfect and the other is evil. There is nuance to it. But it really feels like there was a line in the sand drawn around 2005/2006 with 360 and PS3.
