Firing squad made up of a random selection of judges/prosecutors/politicians. If you're going to sentence a man to death, or allow it, you're going to do it yourself.

I'd say most expensive would be explosives but a 40mm isn't that expensive and from a Mk 19, definitely capable of the listed effect

anything involving controlled chemicals would be much more expensive than explosives. blowing up one person's head requires a very small amount of explosives

one of the reasons some US states want to switch back to shit like the electric chair and hanging and firing squads is because pharmaceutical companies won't even sell them the drugs for lethal injection if they know that's what they'll be used for.

If I could, I'd ban them all. But since that's not an option...

I'm not educated enough to make the call but from the limited information I have, firing squad seems like the best option.

Crushing by anvil: sounds slow and painful.

Walk the plank: Can you even find the body afterward? Even ignoring that you can't walk with your ankles tied.

Falling: No, these things need to not be public events and you'd have to build weird structures to make it work indoors.

Poisoning: 15 minutes? You serious?

Hanging: According to movies (yeah, I know) it's possible to survive the knot and strangle instead, and that just sounds horrible.

Firing squad: Seems you could target the right body part(s) to make it quick. I particularly like the practice of loading most of the guns with blanks and shuffling so nobody has to know who did it.

Lethal injection: I see no benefits of this over firing squad, but I do see benefits vice-versa.

Electric chair: I'll be honest. I love The Green Mile. So hell no.

Guillotine: Seems horribly unsanitary. Probably no moreso than firing squad though.

Yeah but I was thinking of an expensive ass missile launched and landing.

Then I remembered 40mm mists people just fine (hence why the military isn't supposed to use them against dismounted combatants. Too inhumane or something <_<)

Lethal injection without a doubt. Add a 100% success rate to a strong sedative and you literally just put people to sleep. Next to that, explosion should be the second best option. Nearly instantaneous death without time to register pain, but it would be messy.

Guillotine is terrifying, and a fairly long process. The same goes for a firing squad, plus it has a high suffering component. Could be a good option for punishing them with the execution, but seems unnecessary to me.

Guillotine or firing squad. I voted Guillotine as its probably more painless.

This sounds good in theory but doesn't really work in practice. The difference in recoil between firing a live round and firing a blank is very noticeable.

Im aware of that, hence my wording. The poll didnt say current lethal injection practiced in some US states, it just said lethal injection. Hook them up to a slow drip of valium and dilaudid, let them enjoy the effects as they drift off. None of us are likely to die so peacefully.

The drop is fast, the time pulling them in and putting their head down and bracing it isnt. I give it credit for its low suffering (pain), but the moments leading up to the death would be terrifying. Its not nearly as bad as firing squad, which even with 100% success is going to be whole seconds, maybe double digits, of pain regardless of where you aim.

Of course, we could change the firing squad lineup to 12 gauge slugs with two aiming for the head and the rest for upper torso, and that should at least cut the suffering down to no longer than a second or two. But rifles? Not unless youre firing something larger than a 7.62x51.

Poisoning seems itd be the most drawn out so probably that. Drowning or short drop hanging the runner up probably.

Never heard that before but it makes sense.

The only "firing squad" that should be used is a bullet directly to the back of the skull. This "tie a guy up and blindfold him while 5 people fire rifles from a distance" thing was stupid from the start.

All that said, fuck the death penalty

I prefer the method of punishment I came up with - suspended animation.

It's reversible if you are found not guilty later on and it denies the afterlife, which would make the religious idiots who think they're going to Heaven after a death sentence think twice.

It has been used as a method of execution. We no longer use it in the world though.

Id choose having somebody like Arnold or van dam come up behind you and snap your neck like in an action movie. Instant death, no pain whatsoever

If there was ever an instance of an anvil being dropped on someone for an execution then I'd be learning something new. If TC is referring to crushing/pressing with weights then using anvils isn't something that conjures up that image.

Looney Tunes is why it doesn't conjure up that image. Execution by pressing involves torture by slowly loading heavy weights onto a person to kill them painfully. Dropping an anvil to crush them conjures up an image of dropping from high up something heavy like an anvil or piano onto their head instantly, something cartoonish that I've never heard of happening as any common form of execution.
