We seem to be having a new depression (great recession if we're splitting hairs).

Financial struggles are at an all time high.

We're looming under a new threat of fascism.

Republicans are trying to enact 1950s style oppression for anyone who isn't a straight White male.

We have our own Vietnam war controversy (Israel/Palestine conflict).

Hopefully we get our own FDR to clean up everything.

Problem is that the government gets to say everything is fine due to the stock market, GDP growth, and unemployment rate. So people aren't as pissed as they should be.

yes and I have bad news.

did you know that...

...ancient Mesopotamia had modern-style drywall in their buildings?
...knowledge of what scurvy is and how to treat it was lost and forgotten dozens of times throughout history?
...fashion remained basically unchanged for 1000 years in Rome one time.
...Ancient Egypt was more progressive than 1980s America?
...Ancient Egypt had vending machines?

my friend it's been civilization and collapse for 5000 years--there is no reason it would stop now.

this is the collapsing phase.

Some collapses are more severe than others though.

The Bronze Age Collapse was far worse than the slower collapse of Rome for example.

yea we are gonna do the soft collapse, like Rome, where ppl will insist that nothing has collapsed and in fact it's now better than it ever was

edit: maybe something in between the two, to be honest. i don't think most people will have the skills to read and understand the knowledge of the 20th century for very much longer

We learn history so that we aren't doomed to repeat it. Stupid Human stupidity, and stupid conservatives doing all they can do to make sure said Humans never learn anything.
