To be fair, they do have a point. Why bring a child into an environment where raising them is not only expensive, but also burdensome to the parents? Plus, China's economy isn't exactly the best for many of its average citizens at the moment.

I've never wanted kids. I don't know what the fuck about life would make someone want to have kids.

Given that children are the only retirement plan outside of just getting ridiculously rich, it's a pretty good bet most of these people aren't willingly avoiding marriage and having kids.

It's not actually that bad. There's 117 boys for every 100 girls. If you had a party of 217 people and 100 of them were girls nobody would be calling that a sausage fest.

The problems with this imbalance are mostly long term birth rate stuff.

Its part of people trafficking organisations. The charity I work with is always trying to prevent it, as are other organisations, but the scale of the problem makes it impossible to always be successful.
