  • There's been one mild human infection detected so far, in a person exposed to dairy cattle, but some researchers suspect not all cases in workers are being spotted.
  • A report published Friday suggests that may be "the first detected case of the H5N1 virus transmitting from a mammal to a person," STAT's Helen Branswell reported.
  • The CDC has said the risk to the general public is low.

  • The chance of H5N1 or one of its descendants causing a pandemic is slim, but the impact would probably be more severe than COVID-19
  • A reasonable forecast that H5N1 causes a pandemic as bad as or worse than COVID-19 beginning in the next year is ~4%, which means the expected cost in terms of potential harms to the U.S. is at least $640 billion

Also, Bird Flu is waaaay more treatable than Covid.

Yes, bird flu can be treated with antiviral medications, such as oseltamivir (Tamiflu), peramivir (Rapivab), and zanamivir (Relenza). However, it's important to receive treatment as soon as possible to lessen the severity of the illness.

The reason I made this topic is to tell you that you don't need to panic about Bird Flu. Carry on.
