Adhesives, specifically.

Like, my cats won't give a fuck if there's just... plastic lying about. Otherwise my LEGO would be in serious trouble. Even flimsy plastic, like shopping bags are safe.

But plastic adhesive, like packing tape, or, apparently, this resealable bag of Jolly Ranchers?

MURDER TIME.

There's gotta be a reason I'm overlooking here.

The scent of the adhesive perhaps?

You think cats are fascinated by gravity?

or fur?

Their claws are kinda sticky, right?

Super rough tongues, etc

Makes sense to me

Feline instinct topic

You could say it's a cat magnet -__-

I don't think they recognize the former and do not give much thought to the latter.

Adhesive usually smells terrible but I guess so does shit and dogs still eat it.

If there's one thing they understand plainly and simply it's gotta be that.

My two are both very willing to seek attention peaceably when they want it. One is just constantly doing annoying things simply because she is a chaos agent.

Both cannot resist the sweet, sweet urge to attack and chew on plastic based adhesives.

I think part of it has to do with reflections.

Like, they're more interested in something that has light glinting off it than something that doesn't.

So tape is shinier than a Lego.

All that stuff is wriggly and makes noise, not too far from insects. Legos don't change shape, or make much noise.

Most LEGO bricks are fairly glossy though. They are much more uniform in shape I guess, so maybe the reflections aren't as amusing or interesting.

OK this actually sounds like it could be truthful. When they sit there and chew on the tape it doesn't sound unlike the few times they've brought a bird they caught inside and eaten it bones and all.

I completely missed part of it:

They're right, the crinkle also draws cat attention.

I think one of my cats gets really concerned when he sees ME in a mirror. If I leave the bathroom door open when I'm getting ready and he walks in, he'll sit down beside me and stare up at my reflection when I'm brushing my teeth or something and start crying.

I've seen some that can, some that show disinterest, and some that interpret an enemy.

It's happened to me a few times but never in like a purposeful way. More of a "I don't recognize the volume I possess" kinda way. And never so completely it was difficult to reassemble. No, only my former roommate ever thoroughly destroyed my LEGO.
