Could you be a bit more specific? If you're talking something like an artist that works for an advertisement company that makes and sells billboard space that's one thing. If you're talking about someone on social media who is constantly posting videos that are effectively product advertisements for the free things they get shipped to their house that's another. Or are you talking about people in a sales position that more or less only make money on commissions?

Nothing has ever made me feel more simultaneously disgusted and impressed as when I read into advertising/sales techniques, so I'm gonna say yea, at least if you're successful at it.

It is truly despicable how much of a science it is.

I just think people equate the advertising industry as on par with being a lawyer whose only role in society is to offer a function that no one actually likes.

being an effective advertiser usually involves both cleverness and charisma, and a decent amount of elbow grease.

Some advertising practices are garbage, yes. Bait and switch fine print, commercials actively louder than the program itself, robocalls, etc.
