Reviews are telling me its a delightful mashup of Pokmon and Final Fantasy. Sounds great on paper but I was wondering what you guys think of it? Anything completely damming that the reviews are leaving out?

Honestly, one of my favorite games. One of the best side games in the series for sure, with a lot of Easter eggs and references.

Fun story, as well.

It's a fun lil jaunt, I've been having a good time with it. Some of the FF cameos are real deep cuts and they're a delight.

Battle system is fun, though catching some monsters can be a bit of a drag when you're doing everything right and RNG is still screwing you.

Goes for a pretty low price often, cant go wrong imo

Maxima's like a Final Mix edition, adds some more monsters, a postgame story iirc, and some other things

I had a really good time with it. The story edges into a little bit of Kingdom Hearts type dumb stuff, but it's not awful in that respect. Collecting monsters and making good teams is a fun time though. I'd recommend it for the prices you can find now

WoFF was... fine, mostly. Had its moments and for most of its run was inoffensive. Way more on the lighthearted side and all the classic characters are more chibi, look into the art style for the game and see how it strikes you.

My big problem was that it falls apart on the back end. The string of dungeons near the end are highly repetitive and uninspired. Had to force myself to beat it and wound up not doing postgame content for the taste it left.

Fun game definitely adds more with maxima.

I enjoyed it imo. i liked the stack mechanics, catching monsters and the songs.
