They find old ruins and fossilized remains, and it turns out the planet is earth but humans are extinct, and the movie is set like a million years in the future. But that twist would not be revealed til the end

Why do I feel like I've seen this movie already?

Does the movie end with the guy yelling "YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP!"?

I think there was a outer limits episode like this, or some other show.

It's an interesting idea

Another species conducting archeological digs, debating the lost details from history, constructing exhibits, and so on. Depending on the alien species you pick, you could get a wildly different result too! Less humanoid species for example may be really shocked, or have trouble understanding what it is they're seeing in humanity (if they even have eyes to begin with, that is! haha) So I say let your imagination roam. Maybe youll stumble upon something or put together something really neat! Worms or blobs like that one Star Trek episode, excavating and cataloguing earth post-apocalypse (AD?)

Also kind of reminds me of the final episode of Dinosaurs.
