For instance, Ocarina of Time is considered one of the greatest games of all time and has been hitting that spot a lot on the yearly GameFAQs yearly contests from what I remember. Mario 64 is practically the first model for how to do platforming right and is still being used for Mario games as we speak. Other than giving us the starts of great franchises and evolving some others there's not a whole lot and this is from someone who loved his 64.
