Agree or disagree? Seems the gist of it is that culture today is so chaotic that nothing is really sticking or its real short stuff like Tick Toc.

idk what he's talking about which likely means the writer took his words out of context for a doomy clickbait story.

Hearing him talk of movies just reminds me of that god awful bee movie.

I mean, series have replaced movies as the main conversation pieces in society. I think its more true that the movie business itself nowadays is more chaotic than society itself. People who want to tell long form stories do it with a TV series now, so those writers have migrated to streaming shows.

He's made disillusioned and confusingly metaphorical complaints like this before. He consistently sounds like he has difficulty with keeping up new trends, to the point that he's focusing so hard on that, that isn't even able to recognize that a lot of his observations of entertainment hasn't gone away.

Per the article alone:

He continued, Film doesnt occupy the pinnacle in the social, cultural hierarchy that it did for most of our lives. When a movie came out, if it was good, we all went to see it. We all discussed it. We quoted lines and scenes we liked. Now were walking through a fire hose of water, just trying to see.

This practice has never gone away.

It was totally new to me.
This statement suggests that we really shouldnt give any credence to the rest.

I thought I had done some cool stuff, but it was nothing like the way these people work, Seinfeld told GQ in an interview. Theyre so dead serious! They dont have any idea that the movie business is over. They have no idea.
How would he have any idea what is over if its all new to him.

On the other hand it did get him publicity for his new project so maybe he doesnt not know anything.

Hollywood is really struggling lately. Everything either has a giant hundreds of millions 'blockbuster or die' type of budget or is a little indie movie. The mid budget movie has become really rare.

Plus, with all the streaming crap going on now, movies have lost the secondary revenue from the era where people bought movies on tape and then DVDs and then Bluray.

That's like the only movie he was ever in too. He's so oblivious that his entire success was due to the talents of Larry David and not himself.

That's not at what he's talking about though. He's not observing their profitability, but how convoluted the production process supposedly is.

^Well, we know there's tons of executive meddling in a lot of big movies, so he's not completely wrong about that either.
