The graces like game

I hate Zesteria so god damn much.
The MC is a little bitch and isn't interesting at all
They bring up things that sound like they'll be unique and cool and then never bring it up again
Only one cool character, everyone else is lame and annoying.

Not even lying, the game peaks at the kickass song that plays during the anime intro.

it's not very good, but it's a mediocre game in a mediocre series so it isn't particularly awful

It's pretty eh. Berseria is MUCH better.

Very upsetting because it had a great premise and then I really disliked the party and how different it was from other games. It made it less enjoyable and I never finished it.

Pretty bad, though the OST is pretty good and the general idea of combat is cool.

Playing it after Berseria makes it a bit more enjoyable, though, since they take place in the same world.
But also, just play Berseria instead. It's great.

Gameplay? ehhhh. Its definitely near the bottom, but the gameplay imo is not worse than stuff like symphonia 2's, legendia's, or the absolute bottom tempest.
(I am especially pissed because the PS4 version got screwed on this one performance wise. The game is originally a PS3 game in japan and so there is not a single reason why the PS4 version got stuck with some janky-ass booboo 30fps cap. Even star ocean 5 with it's 7 party members constantly following you around and fighting at once managed to have 60fps for it's PS4 port. Even more so since zestiria's more technically impressive sequel tales of berseria had smooth 60fps gameplay with no real issues on the PS4, =/).

Seraphim felt a little gross to play as imo and its obvious the game aspects for you to be controlling sorey or rose for most of the game. That lord of the land and equipment system is god awful and the worse tales of sub-system gimmick thing by far.

Characters was aight'. Funny enough, my favorite character is the one the majority of the fandom dumps on the most. (Rose). I just felt it refreshing you had this happy go lucky lady that didn't hesitate a single second to just murk any person that needed to be deaded.

Like legendia it did have a pretty great OST and I can never deny it that. It just was below average to suck in every single other category that was not music related. Tales of berseria is better in every single way imo.

Nah. For the most part I liked the characters in Zesteria. But the story and villain are both boring. The world/dungeons are also obnoxiously large which adds way too much boring padding to the game.

Both America and Japan are into the Princess thing. The plot of Zesteria treated its princess in an unexpected and an unaccepted direction it dumped her. Some people found this refreshing.

Funny enough, Japan hated this so much that the not only had the Princess stay the entire time in the anime, but made it so that she could fuse

Oh man, that japanese tales of fanbase alisha controversy was so, so dumb. Made rose's seiyuu do the super serious dogeza apology in everything even if she didn't have a single thing to do with all that shit.

I was actually pissed for rose's japanese voice actress about this one, lol.

Probably my least favorite of the series.
Complete nothing villain that doesn't fit the series.
Main character basically doesn't have an arc.
The entire lore with about who becomes evil doesn't make sense when you have two characters who are immune to it by having a weird sense of morality.
Weapon system is just needlessly complicated.
Several characters are massively underdeveloped.

I think about the only section I fully enjoyed was the part with the loli.

I think it was an awful game. THAT SAID, there are some things I really like about the game. I love the idea that if your going into an area your not supposed to be in, the game makes it feel like your running through mud and amps the difficulty of that area. I like Sories alternate costume with the black and red. It's the color scheme that should have been used for his 1st costume.

I even like some of the elemental dungeons. But everything else was terrible.

Zesteria is the only tales game I have never finished and I have 0 want to even attempt to finish. The gameplay for me was just so bad with the whole combine with your party system. Xillia had the better system in that aspect as it didn't lock you out of party members.

Story wise it was meh from the start and from the playthrough I watched it remained meh. Twist was that great ot shocking, characters were pretty bland and did nothing to promote intrest in them. Hell Berseria did more for me liking the characters in this game which is actually insane.

Gotta be the worst in the series (by a good margin imo but I'm sure you could make some arguments for the older games or the side piece games). It killed all the hype I had for Berseria when it was announced because of how utterly disappointed I was with Zesteria. Probably also why I rate Berseria lower on my tales lists too, Zesteria was so bad it just put a sour taste on every tales game since. Legitimately one of the worst games I've played in the genre.

The worst Tales I've played by a wide margin. The soundtrack is phenomenal, though.
