i viewed it as just as much of a miscarriage of justice and mockery of our political system as when Dubya was handed victory by the EC despite the popular vote as well.
Well, I would say it was the US Supreme Court that appointed Bush when they intervened to stop Florida's recount. You're right that the EC caused that, but I think at that point in time they were just the mechanism for defrauding the election, rather than the EC being the primary defrauder in 2016.

i never thought Trump would actually be capable of doing any tangible harm while in office. i thought he would just bumble about and be ineffectual and blustery, and then in four years we would get back on track.
Yep, I thought this too. How naive about our political landscape I was.

i also realized that if he lost, his ego would prevent him from conceding and peacefully transferring power to his successor. i called it months in advance. he would be willing to do ANYTHING in order to stay in office and maintain power for himself.
It's terrifying to me that more people can't see this about Trump, but also they can't see this about more career politicians in general.

career politicians are generally pieces of shit who do a lot of shady stuff, but none of them have ever tried to stage a coup in order to overturn the results of a free and fair election because they couldn't handle defeat. this is not something that just any old politician would do. Trump is in a class all his own on this specific matter. though maybe now, going forward, that might not be the case anymore. but if any other politician tries this in the future, it will be solely because Trump showed them that it's not out of the realm of possibility. that is what is truly scary about the damage Trump has done to the political process in this country.

It don't matter. None of this matters.
