It was long but outside of the last boss and the very last part of it when hes charging up his Octo slash I didnt find it that tough. The wing part was a bit gimmicky but apart from that I didnt really struggle at all.

Does Rebirth follow the same story path as the original or does it deviate to include other games or something? Where in the story does Rebirth end?

it hits the main story beats. Corel. Junon. Gold Saucer. Cosmo canyon. It also extends some such as gongara.

the last main area of the game is the temple of the ancients with a small final section at the forgotten capital where... you know what... happens.

The main divergence from the OG is the last chapter. I dont really understand it enough to explain it accurately. Ill just say multiple worlds / time lines. Aeris is dead but not dead. Zack makes an appearance. Sephiroth transcends this world and you some how battle him across multiple time lines at once.

oh and at the end no one can see Aerith but cloud. Is she dead and hes imagining it? Is she a ghost only cloud can see? Who knows. Find out more in part three!

To add to this, they do skip Rocket Town. Cid shows up earlier though, as about midway through you he helps you get to the last few areas of the game.
