I can make friends very easily, my thing is whether or not the other person is truly worth investing my time and effort into. I dont really do those we hang out to watch the game and dont discuss our personal lives friendships, if youre my friend we go all in with full honesty and vulnerability. Plus between my 4 best friends ive had for 15-30 years I kinda have all hobbies, interests and subjects covered so any new friends would just be a duplicate im less close with.

I really try, but most of the time it turns out that:

  • we have conflicting schedules to point that we never have time to hang out
  • they end up having some hot takes that make me feel like "oh...that's a shame..." (usually along the lines of conspiracy theories or supporting right-wing populism)
  • one of us is attracted to the other (or one of us has that impression) but the feeling isn't mutual

I'm awkward and I have very limited time so I don't make it out to events where I could socialize. I briefly chatted with someone at concert while we were in line for the merch table, but that was it.

Almost all of my friends were people I either met at school or work or were introduced to through other friends. I have like one friend I made all by myself outside of work or school.
