Given that the stores are presumably more like traditional mini-marts, it wouldnt be surprising if they have an overall higher level of quality.

When I visited my homeland last year and tried their local cuisines at the 7-11 and Lawson, they really are amazing >_> Getting onigiri and sushi rolls with a bottle of whisky after having insomnia at 3am was a delightful experience.

Weebs were right: Japan is just better

Whether or not they're 'better' depends on what you're craving. The Circle-K next to my hotel in Vietnam had these big dumplings stuffed with things like duck, pork, quail eggs. They were so fucking good. There was also fresh fruit and prepared meals. Milk coffee is the best. The stores around here are mostly hot dogs, pizza, and fried chicken.
