Imagine getting so upset over throw away lines. Wonder if they get upset if a scene is the same but het?

There is a valid reason to be upset about this scenario. LGBTQ characters being censored by the Chinese government means that we can't get fleshed out LGBTQ relationships outside of movies that are only meant to be domestic.

Somebody writes a Boy Meets Boy romance for $12 million? We'll make four times that in the US and anti-LGBTQ governments of the world can fuck off. Someone writes a $200 million blockbuster movie in which superheroes battle space aliens? The lesbian romance is limited to a character saying that she's gay in one scene and sharing a kiss with her girlfriend in another scene so that they can be cut out for the international market.

You can't give a same-sex couple the same kind of fleshed out relationship that you give to a heterosexual couple if the film's budget is dependent upon the international market to recoup costs and make a profit.

This is the era of streaming services. The MCU X-Men might have a throwaway line about Iceman being gay, then follow it up with an 8 episode rom-com series on Disney+. He's gay and he has a relationship (on the streaming service). Meanwhile, the romance of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson can make up 40% to 60% of a Spider-Man movie and nobody bats an eye at it anywhere in the world.

And all that is an issue with the world at large. Yes there should be a lot more telling those parts of the world to piss off about it but those pieces still help to normalize things here where people still lose their shit over a three second kiss and scream about forced diversity.

Yeah, I'm not gonna defend people who are mad at the existence of an LGBTQ kiss.
