It is just baffling to many of us. That's all. I have better things to do than waste hundreds of hours on something I only kinda enjoy.

But I have also learned that we have very different approaches to life, so I'll just stop.

Some memories are priceless fam. As long as it tickles your heart, it doesn't matter how much you paid or how much time passed. I have never played Skyrim tho.

I'm a GAMER. It's kinda my thing. I put a lot of time into games I enjoy too, so I don't see the issue, it's not like I'm purposely playing games I hate. I just like leaving things at a proper note so I can say I definitely gave it a fair chance. I gave TotK 500 hours and I wasn't playing anything else at the time and I wanted to do stuff like max my armors so I could leave my file at a good spot. It's not like I went after all the Koroks seeds, I'm not that masochistic

I didn't enjoy it, that's just how long it took me to finish my goals. Armor upgrading was a significant part of it, don't know why they made it more grindy this time. In terms of enjoyment, I liked BotW more and 500 hours is nothing to me. I have 1500 into Animal Crossing New Horizons and I hate that game. I have 1000+ in other games too. I think I have 2500 hours into Fire Emblem Three Houses, I did like that one.

Generally I'm not one to think hours played = money cause that means I should be paying $250 for FETH and nah fam I may like it but no.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is my sole exception. Probably just sunk cost fallacy with that one but it's like your ex that you hate but you somehow end up fucking again just a lot of toxic hate sex fam.

For further context, due to the nature of the game it's just hours over time. I didn't "play" it for most of that so much as I maintained upkeep of my island because I don't have a lawn to mow. Patched in the new content last year and decided I may as well try it out. And it was pretty ok but that just makes me question why it wasn't in the base game.

Also you ARE NOT A REAL GAMER MOST OF US CAN EASILY PUT HUNDREDS OF HOURS INTO OUR GAMES ANIMAL CROSSING IS NOT A REAL GAME!!

No it isn't. I paid full price for it and the put 500 hours into it. I'm not saying it's bad but it's not worth $70, definitely use a voucher if digital or hope for a sale otherwise.

What are you using to determine worth? Have video games ever been worth full price to you? Were they worth it 5-10 years ago, but not worth it 20-30 years ago?

Most Nintendo games at full price will be $60 at present. So asking for $70 as a one off instead of as the norm makes it seem like they consider this specific game to be of more worth than their other games. So one has to ask why and if it really is the case. It's less about determining the worth of the average game and more about determining the worth of one game compared to others of it's kind. In the end, it's just an opinion of course but I do not believe TotK is worth more than a $60 game.

I haven't been gaming for 10 years and wasn't even alive 30 years ago so I can't answer those questions for you
