For cases where, as implied, you're held up because you're trying to work with a tool or a program that's clunky and stupid and has terribad error reporting. The kind of thing where, for example, you need to have an environment variable set up that's a URL to a server, but the program just throws an exception saying cannot reach '': no such hostname. Example usage: "Johnson, how is that task coming?" "I've got a GSEW issue. Do we have anyone familiar with program?" "Have you ever seen this error before?" "Yeah. Took me weeks to figure out.
