I can see SNES -> N64 being a candidate going from 2D to 3D but I feel between the 3D generations going from N64 to GCN was the most noticeable jump. GCN -> 360 is noticeable but more looks like 480p to 720p

The jump to PS1 or to PS2 were about the same

It's been diminishing returns ever since.

Either 2 to 3 or 4 to 5.

With the NES, we started being able to tell what things were (there were a handful of Atari games that didn't look too bad but for the most part and all)

With the PS1, modeled 3D became a thing (again, there were a handful of SNES games but for the most part)

Nothing else even comes close.

mgs2 is so amazingly good looking. Going from mgs1 to that was amazing. But tbf most ps2 games didnt look that good.

Going to sixth gen was the biggest imo. I remember being blown away by the Dreamcast.

SNES to PS1. Going from simple sprite graphics to detailed 3D was an insane leap.

Agreed!

Especially if you are talking about going from The 2600 to NES and/or Master System.

SNES to N64 was mind-blowing. I went to Toys R Us twice a week just to run around in Mario 64.

I had played some Playstation before that, but it didn't look or play near as impressive as the N64 (at least, at the time).

SNES to N64, easily. Especially concerning one of the greatest games of all time, Ocarina of Time.

A lot of people laugh but this is always my go to answer. Going from the Atari 2600, even the IntelliVision or ColecoVision to NES was absolutely mind blowing to me and Ive never been as blown away as I was by that. It felt like we had been handed alien technology. It seemed so much more advanced I couldnt hardly believe what I was looking at.

N64 was probably the first time I was blown away by video games. I've never had that sense of amazement again. Probably never will unless some breakthrough technology comes out. Games have felt pretty much the same for the past 3 generations. There can be improvements on photorealism but not everyone's into that and it just makes them take up more GB.

It's a clear winner, it's not even a debate.
