I have my first one and the hair situation is starting to get out of hand. I've been brushing her daily but it's still excessive so I made a grooming appointment. I'm just wondering what to expect and how much it will be? I hope she isn't scared being left there for a few hours.

She's just molting, probably.
Just keep brushing the hair off.

I can't help much with preventing her fur from getting everywhere but I will tell you, if you're looking for something that makes it extremely easy to get their fur off fabric, buy a gadget like this:

Of course, I've had short hair cats my whole life but this is another level. The fur around her butt is also an issue. I tried trimming her hair myself but it's next to impossible.

Yes. Its actually pretty straight forward to groom them as long as you have a place they cant run away from. I use a buzzer and let them get familiar with how it feels on their head and such. Eventually my long haired got used to it and thinks its a toy. He likes to roll around when Im grooming him so it becomes a little difficult but you can get some mileage from that.

I found an air purifier is a must.. I have two cats (a short haired, too) so with the litter boxes around, I feel better knowing I have a better quality of air for me and them.

but yeah, hair everywhere lol

I took him the other day to get groomed, but thats just because I was taking my other cat to get their nails trimmed (they hate when I try to do this so I bring them in) and figured he could use a more even cut all around.
Yep, we have a purifier. How long do you groom with brushes per day and how often do you trim? I got a trimmer but it's too loud and even with the safety I'm a little apprehensive about cutting it too short or hurting her. I have been able to trim her butt hair with just scissors at the very least.

Diet is important for long haired cats, feeding something more towards premium will cost more but will vastly improve the health of the coat and reduce the need for frequent grooming. Cats that eat stuff like 9 lives will have more matting and knotting.

Check the first ingredient of the dry food, if it's corn or byproduct you should seek out something that has the meat listed first, there are options that are inexpensive out there. Corn is filler and byproduct is beaks and feet and neither offer much health benefit.

My parents have one.

All you can do is groom them daily, feed them a good diet, give them plenty of water to drink.

And get a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
