It meant so much to me when the idea that men (or people who were AMAB and hadn't come to personal gender realizations yet) were allowed to like it was spreading. Assuming men who were fans had to have some kind of disgusting ulterior motive (and then using the existence of things in every fandom that ever existed to justify generalizing everyone in the fandom) is the part that ruined it for me, to the point where thinking back on the entire thing is painful for me now. I will for the sake of fairness say that that entire fucking decade was horrible for me and a show that ran from 2010-2019 may have elicited negative associations for me anyway.
