RIP Akira Toriyama. This tournament, and so many other things, literally couldn't have happened without you. It's impossible to overstate how much you mattered to so many people, and your legacy will live on long after the rest of us are gone.

128 characters, 128 rounds, including a round to find third place. This time we're going to dip into manga/anime, with one of the most iconic series in the medium -- Dragon Ball!

This tournament covers every part of the series -- original series, Z, GT, Super, the movies, there are even a couple of characters from the games in here. I made the bracket as well as I was able to, since there wasn't a large enough popularity poll to base the seeding off of this time, so hopefully I matched everyone up well enough that nobody gets robbed too early in this.

Round one-hundred-and-one! Piccolo vs. Puar!
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/e/e0f87f1e.jpg

Rules are simple: Vote for the character that you like the best, and want to advance in the tournament. Rounds last 24 hours, give or take, because when you're an adult sometimes things happen and you can't always be around to post an anime contest on a dying blue websight. In the event of a tie, it will be determined by a never-controversial Lightning Round of votes. The winner of each round advances to their next match, and the loser goes to HFIL.

Note that if you accidentally vote for the wrong character, too bad, I won't manually adjust. Can't be bothered to.

Gonna go ahead and lay out my plans for the potential next tournament. I wanted to do another video game series for tournament #4, one that I care about enough to dedicate the time and attention to, and one with the same pedigree and cultural impact as The Simpsons, Final Fantasy, or Dragon Ball; so, I've decided that it's going to be Best Pokemon.

Every Pokemon released as of Gen 9 is going to have a chance in this tournament, so it's going to require some preliminary rounds. 1025 unique Pokedex entries, plus 55 regional forms, gives an exact 1080 Pokemon. So I'm planning on holding preliminary rounds in groups of ten, with the winner of each round making it to the final bracket.

These groups of ten will be broken down in Pokedex order, both to keep things simple and to make sure that each generation has representation on the bracket based on how many Pokemon they added. It won't be equal representation since some gens added a lot more than others (for example, Gen 6 only added 71 Pokemon, compared to Gen 5 adding about 155) but it's the most fair way to do it in my opinion.

As I stated that they're based on Pokedex number, this means that Megas, Gigantamax, and other alternate battle forms will be counted along with the base form. Yes, this also means all six forms of Rotom will be counted as one, as well as the 28 Unowns. The only reason I'm giving regional forms their own chance to get on the roster is because there are some cases, such as Galarian Meowth or Paldean Wooper, where they're part of completely different evolution lines (evolving into Perrserker or Clodsire respectively).

Of course, this only fills 108 out of 128 spots, so the extra 20 will be broken down by generation; two for each gen, with the last two being either for gen "8.5" (those introduced in Arceus), reserved for regional forms (unless they're simply included in their respective gen's count), or wild card spots that can be filled by any Pokemon.

Which means that in addition to each winner from the groups of ten being automatically added to the bracket, I'll be keeping track of the losers as well, with the top 10 (or 20, if I want to do two sets) earning a second chance to get on the bracket in one of their reserved spots. Seeding will then be based on the overall votes / percentage that the Pokemon earned to win their position.

But since this means the tournament will take twice the time that it normally takes to run one, I'm going to need to be absolutely, 100% sure that I want to run it. Anybody with feedback on the preliminary / seeding process, speak up.
