This is tough. The way I see it, there are three ways to look at your options:
-Start with Red or Blue, either works, to get the genuine "first Pokemon" experience. -Start with Ruby. Huge update in visuals over the predecessors, and it's where you really start to see improvements in the core mechanics. -Start with X. Naturally, it's very modern comparatively, making it a much more playable experience. It also has an expansive 'Dex, so you see a much larger percentage of the existing Pokemon compared to your other options.
