https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/03/05/online-opt-in-polls-can-produce-misleading-results-especially-for-young-people-and-hispanic-adults/

46% of all polls use opt in method. Which is fast and inaccurate which is how polls have been so quickly released weekly. It's especially inaccurate for young and Hispanic people.

It's used to created vote anxiety. Why go to vote if the polls think the other won? Just a thought.

It's annoying that they make the implication that their sample is truly random and not opt-in. Different sources of participants, different biases. Aggregation across many different samples helps these types of representativeness biases, which is what most pollsters do anyway.

Yea, after the mid terms, there were studies coming out showing how polls have been off by the most percentage points since like the 70's.

If anything, with any data scientist related, it is to identify the trends in certain groups. But actually winning is another story.

I always thought it was to feed the ravenous appetite of the news cycle monster with the anxiety just being a side effect of trying to keep the clicks coming.

I have eyes

And the title is medical director thank you. Prior authorization, medical necessity, reviewing hospitalizations, all the boring things most docs ignore but honestly better than clinical work imo

Now all about haley

Still hoping she pulls it out at the convention somehow. Or if trump goes to jail first or something. Contrary to what people say I'm conservative but not pro-trump/MAGA at all.

Nothing wrong with changing viewpoints. Politicians demonize "flip flopping" but realistically I'm more suspicious of anyone that gets a polticial viewpoint at age 10 and keeps it until 90

Trump's numbers are way down in today's primaries compared to the polls (he still will obviously win the primaries, but its not a blow out).

Even "inaccurate" polls can be useful as long as they're not literally made up.

E.g. a poll that consistently underrates Dems by 10 points is just as useful as one that's always perfect.
