Play Station was 9 years and 7 years old (1994-2004)
Super Famicom was 10 years old (1990-2000).
Famicom was 10 years and 11 months old (1983-1994).
Play Station 2 was 11 years and 8 months old (2000-2011).
Game Boy was 11 years and 11 months old (1989-2001).
Consoles can be supported for a long time if the console is successful.

It's barely starting to feel like it's coming to its natural end as of Q4 last year. Great gen for Nintendo but I'm ready for the next one.
