It's a one player game, do whatever you want. If you want to equip espers for the passives and just never cast magic, you do you.

Personally I think FF6 is easy enough that allowing for optimal stat espering breaks the game even further.

Nope, not by the typical rules of a natural magic game.

Anyways, my favourite way to play VI is a natural magic game so I vote yes.

To the TC. I did a no magic run in one of my original 6 runs in the 90's. It's ok to equip espers for the stats. Just no summons or magic. You just focus on melee and abilities. Sadly this rules out using Gau, Strago, Relm, Terra abilities. Gau and Relm would be ok only using non magical monsters. Way back when I could tell you which ones without looking. I'm sure a few could show you which ones to use

If you're really into challenge runs, at any rate, FFX is the best FF for them. There's a LOT you can do in it.
