I don't know. Beyond Rowling and just looking at LGBTQ+, I think the big reason I doubt sincerity of their views is that they don't really put effort even in just making the most solid argument possible.

Just make up reasons and hope anyone of importance can't counter the argument.

If making effort is too much, then their views evidently aren't that important and not worth making laws from them.

There are studies done that profile these cult mentalities like terfs or gender critical ideology, and how they recruit or brainwash people into their cult. They don't operate on logic or reason, and instead come from things like fear, ignorance, hatred, anger. It consumes them and warps them. It's really disturbing and sad stuff.

These patterns show up and are recognized in other cults as well in how they come to be, sucking people down their rabbit holes and radicalize them.
