Its February and I have completed zero brand new games only replaying old ones I'm currently playing soul hackers 2 but I keep wanting to play fire emblem fates more

Are video games finally an old enough medium that people no longer feel the consumerist need to keep up with the newest releases? Imagine if you were obligated to buy and read only the newest releases of books.

What I meant is new as in already played its like re reading the same book over and over

The only new game I've purchased since the release of TOTK is Sea of Stars. The year before that I didn't buy anything. I've been replaying lots of games I haven't touched for awhile.

I only really play one to three new games per year. The only games I routinely play that came out in the last year are Lies of P and Baldur's Gate 3.

Otherwise it's usually old Fromsoftware games.

Dying to buy baldurs gate 3 cos of the reviews but Im a cheapskate who buys on discount 30% or more i dont mind waiting cos Ive got a backlog of new and already played games to get to
to clarify that rule is for franchises Ive never played before though Ill make exceptions

My backlog is insane right now and my wishlist just keeps growing and growing. So I almost never go back to old games that I've already beat these days.

I'm kind of in the opposite position. I have a bunch of games I've been wanting to replay, but I have so many in my Steam library that I haven't gotten to yet, plus series I'm in the middle of but have yet to get later entries. I've been thinking about replaying the Baten Kaitos games for years, but when am I gonna get the chance when I just got into Atelier Ryza? Never mind everything in the Trails series beyond Sky, none of which I even own yet!

Honestly, I think part of the reason I turned into a "play it to death" achievement hunter is because I know I'm more than likely never again gonna take the chance to play a game more than once so I might as well drain it dry on the first pass~

Don't let me sway you, but it absolutely incredible. Well deserving of its praise.

When I started falling out of video games I would often stick to old games because new ones started feeling like a really large time sink

I've been on a point n click (sometimes limited keyboard control or controller) adventure game binge for the past 2ish years. 99% of them are not new. Wanna say average mid 2000s release date . The oldest game I've tried so far was Maniac Mansion which was released in 1987. that one is pretty cool and doesn't feel outdated imo.

If I get the urge to play an action game ill just play dmc 3se ubisoft port for maybe 20 mins to 2 hours per session to get it out of my system. Been playing dmc 3 on and off since 2013 starting with the ps3 version (I also did play the da and se versions on ps2 in 2007 but the game didn't fully click with me at the time)..i started playing the ubisoft port in 2015.

Whenever a new aaa releases that is super hyped like bg3, hogwarts legacy, elden ring, etc.. ill try them out. So far I've only liked elden ring enough to complete it. The rest I have abandoned because they lack some satisfying factor for me. Idk what exactly i want tho.
