Never got the love for the 90's X-men cartoon. Character personalities seemed so off compared to the comic version. think I stopped watching it completely when Angel was looking to get "cured" because he hated being a mutant. Where the Angel I grew up with purposely crashed a helicopter hoping to kill himself when his wings had to be amputated and he could no longer fly on his own.

The original series wasn't a paragon of animation or anything but like.

3D that they try to make look 90s hand-draw to a budget is even worse than the real thing.

Is this the main comic version? He did not plan to kill himself. If I remember right, Angel wanted to get into the air so he flew his private jet. However, the villain who orchestrated the amputation of his wings, sabotaged the plane to make it look like Angel committed suicide.

Nobody wants it to fail, but Disney has an unfortunate recent track record of turning everything they touch to shit. The reverse Midas touch if you will.

Edit: that goes doubly so for sequels and remakes of popular classics.

I'm super stoked for it. Hopefully they'll consider doing the same to the 90's Spiderman cartoon. At least give it a satisfying ending anyway.

That's the pilot for Pryde of the X-men which wasn't made a series. Notably the X-men arcade game was based off this.

A strong contender for the best arcade beat 'em up of all time and a strong contender for the most unlikely licensed game of all time. There have been games based off of cartoons that were cancelled during the first season, but I don't think any other games are based on a pilot that didn't get picked up.

On the bright side, they already did the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix arc so we won't have to sit through another butchering of it. But with Magneto now in charge, I think that is going to mean some very interesting things are going to happen.

People really do sleep on that one. I think they pass it over with an eye roll because they aged nearly all the characters down to be high schoolers.

I passed on that one because Rogue was a goth instead of a southern belle.

Cast changes I expect, but I always find it interesting when we get a mix of studios of sort. Some US voices with the returning Canadian cast.

Wonder if the majority will be from Canada or if there will be a little of both.

I kinda get people recognizing something like Disney's Robin Hood reusing the dance animation from Snow White. Those are both Disney properties. If you watched the films back to back, you might pick up on the same dance.

But how do people hold an exact image in their memory like that to be able to track down when or how someone has plagiarized someone else's work? (Or "paid homage" to it?)

It's a semi-famous scene from Buffy cuz horny. It wouldn't take much for someone to think "huh, that looks a bit like this Buffy scene" and then look at them and realize they're identical.

That word did cross my mind, but I wasn't sure.

To be fair, I did catch that Alan Grant's outfits from Jurassic Park were lifted form an older dinosaur movie, Dinosaurus.

They just moved the red scarf from the first outfit to the second. (It's not how he's described in the book. There, he's a barrel-chested man with a beard, a Hawaiian shirt, and cowboy boots.)

It could be a coincidence, but the "tyrannosaurus looking into the vehicle" shot is also in both movies and Jurassic Park is peppered with references to older dinosaur films. The "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" banner is a reference to a film of the same name. And they acknowledged on the Jurassic Park DVD that the scene of the gallimimus getting caught and eaten by the tyrannosaurus was a reference to an ornithomimus getting eaten by an allosaurus in The Valley of Gwangi. "What do they think they've got in there, King Kong?," etc.

Plus, the clothing department already had fun with Dennis Nedry wearing the various outfits that Chunk wore in The Goonies. I don't know. The more I try and justify it, the more I feel it might just be a coincidence. I'd like to feel that I'm onto something though.

That was exclusive to the '97 cartoon. He *was* the bitch of the X-Men; just in every other iteration of the character.

Everyone has a weakness. Storms happens to be claustrophobia. And for her it's small confined spaces. A wall falling on her isn't a closed space unless she's completely surrounded. And he's so not a better leader because he's a man.
