You would think that all the Karen shaming we see everywhere now would make the world a little bit more humbled but I don't see much of a difference. We all love to shame entitled, unreasonable, irrational, crazy people with insane expectations with main character syndrome but has it deterred you?

What I've learned over the years is that people are able to acknowledge others being crazy but have no self awareness when they're the one being crazy. Just like bad drivers don't know or think they can be bad drivers, Karens don't think they're being a Karen when they are being one. Just like some of you gamers don't think you're being unreasonable when you say crazy shit.

Stop defending Karens, Kevin.

I've seen a woman act up until she noticed she was being filmed, then she stormed out. Seems like an improvement to me.

Shaming people isnt meant to be helpful.

You can't make people change if they don't want to.

It can be but some people think it's too much of a violent way of teaching. Years later people will call their shaming experience "trauma".

You probably cant change a Karen but you can at least get them to stop and leave you alone

My point isn't this. My point is everyone is capable of being a Karen. One of the biggest traits of Karens is that they have no self-awareness when they're being Karens. They don't think they're being irrational, they think they're bringing justice and fairness into the equation.

And a lot of us have crazy high standards and expectations but some of us don't think they are. We think they're normal.

This is why I'm a little more glass-half-full than most when it comes to social media. There's never been a better time for shitty behavior to be exposed.

That's a horrible opinion. Kids being publicly punished for being bad at school is normal. I guess schools are Karens now right?

Well my point is we all are capable of being a Karen.

There absolutely has been a cultural shift in regards to dealing with Karens. Restaurant and retail managers are far, far more likely to defend their employees from abusive customers than they were 15-20 years ago when millennials started entering the adult workforce.

Sure, some unreasonable assholes get free food more often than they used to, but belligerence is less tolerated. Employees can get in trouble from calls to corporate, but there's a lot more leniency for people that (justifiably) lost their temper.

Things are better.

I'm torn here, because on one hand, I feel the need to name and shame these people because some of them are outright monsters. Like a belligerent drunk woman on a plane who claimed that the Air Marshals caused her to have a miscarriage, when it turned out she wasn't even actually pregnant.

But on the other hand, the logical side of my brain knows that some of these people might just be having a bad day, and have pretty poor self-control. I don't think someone's entire life needs to be ruined because they had one awful day, regardless of who they took it out on. (within reason, obviously, if you murder someone because you're down in the dumps, we don't need you)
