Isn't there a test you have to do in order to prove you're not too smart to be a cop?

No. One time, a department in CT, did not want to hire someone because they said he scored too high and would get bored of the job. In reality, I think he was too old(46) and they wanted an excuse to not hire an older person and not get in trouble for it. Because of this, people on the internet run with this rumor

But generally speaking being too smart isnt a protected class so you can not be hired or fired because of it.

Youre literally posting the same story I already posted. Its only one incident that it ever happened. The Supreme Court ruling is that IQ is not a protected class not that a low iq test is a requirement or test they do. Which is false

and your last link is just an opinion piece about what training police academies do. Which is dumb because not a single police academy is the same and different states have different requirements/laws.

no, its one incident that made it to court and had a ruling.

No one can say how often it happens because its not a thing people track. We know departments can reject candidates that are too smart because of the ruling and thats it.

you can choose to believe its never happened again, thats your choice, but its also founded but some dumbass reasoning

You argue in such bad faith. Its in the description. Youre not actually doing any research. Youre just going into Google and YouTube as fast as you can. Typing cops iq, and posting the first video or article you see

Literally more trigger happy than "AI turrets" in a game that actually KNOW when you are present because of perfectly reading location data from the game. And which automatically assume you are an enemy because in the game there is no target other than the player.

Wow.

comment:
I applied to be a police officer in Dallas when I first got out of the Army. I only missed one question on the entrance exam and instead of being impressed with my score and trying to get me to move forward in the process, my interviewer spent the whole interview trying to convince me to apply for the FBI or another federal service. I explained that my family was in Dallas and that I just wanted to be back home after 6 years in the military, and since the FBI would almost assuredly assign me somewhere away from my family, I had no interest in them. He ended the interview pretty quickly after that and I never got a call back. So yeah, I believe that you can be too smart to be a cop.
