My friends all urged me to check it out.

I guess it's OK so far. I am almost 100 episodes in and I am enjoying it. A lot of filler, but I love seeing all the different devil fruit powers. I am told it's kicks up the action at some point, so i am looking forward to that.

Read the manga, the anime is going to take you forever. Just youtube the Sakuga moments.

As an anime only, I recommend you go read it. Pacing goes to hell the further you get in. Then you think you're already too far in to switch. The episode count would probably be half if not less what it currently is if Toei was an actually good company.

Apparently I heard that the reason Toei doesn't give breaks to One Piece anime's like other animation company's do to MHA and JJK is because they would make less money or something like that. Which only means the pacing and animation gets hurt the most because of this.

Like yeah I'm aware of Luffy Gear 5 vs Kaido fight, but Sakugo moments like those are so rare in between.

For context, a good anime usually adapts 3-4 chapters per episode. Early One piece ran at that pace. One piece has been doing 1 chapter or less per episode for like a decade now.

And that's not because of a ton of filler episodes. Everything is just streeeeeetched out.

Anime pacing is pretty rough even at the start. But around episode 400ish is when it goes to shit.

I'm almost at 600 and these past couple arcs have been roughhhh.

Ya.. the one thing that hurts the One Piece anime for me is that the pacing is just SO BAD, everything is just so stretched out that at this point instead of listing how much of a chapter it adapts i think the wiki has started to list what pages it adapts

Honestly its why i just recommend to read the manga

Though i do have hopes for the Remake Series which i hope to god paces the anime better

Yeah, it doesn't really have a lot of long filler arcs like Naruto. But the arcs just get dragged out, especially the last several arcs.

You can tell it's when it's getting caught up to the manga because it's always towards the end.

One Pace does fix the problem by cutting out all the unnessary padding. But yeah One Piece is in serious need of a DB Kai version after the series is fully done.

One Pace probably IS going to be the go-to one for the main anime series considering the live action and upcoming anime reboot are already doing the truncated depictions.
