Play the cancer card. Christ I wish I had played the cancer card when I was going through it. And I don't mean the whole "I only have 3 months to live", that's going too far.

I had to ease off when going through chemo due to the possibility of radioactive jizz.

Yes, twice actually. First time was a simple surgery, in and out in about 2 hours. Heavy pain meds though. Second time, which was January of last year I had to go through Chemo. The Chemo itself wasn't as bad as it could have been as I'm heavier set. Apparently heavy people don't struggle as much and they can take heavier doses, so I had 9 weeks of treatment, just celebrated my 1st year clear last week. Cancer went from a 5 cm mass in my lower right back, to a less than .3 cm mass which is now non-cancerous and shrinking every visit. I can talk about the original Cancer, but it would probably make some people uncomfortable due to its location.

That said, it taught me a few things I didn't know. I found out I have T2 diabetes, which became worse with the chemo treatment. Also found out I'm allergic to a mixing agent for certain types of IV medications (They come to the hospital solid, and the mixing agent turns them into a liquid). Nearly died twice from that. Thankfully I had great nurses who gave me the antidote extremely quickly.

The worst part about going through it were the side effects. My surgeries left me with nerve damage that apparently I'm going to have for at least the next 2 years. I had 3 surgeries total. 1 for my initial cancer, and 2 for port surgery (a port is a medical device which lets them stick you with a needle without piercing skin. I have a scar above my right pec which it was placed). Then I found out I had a bunch of blood clots, which happen after Chemo. So I ended up spending a week in the hospital bed-ridden.

But for me the worst was the financial issues. I should have gotten unemployment after being forced to leave work. But because I was short 120 hours (which I would have gotten had I been allowed to work for the remainder of my work term, exactly 120 hours), EI just said F you, we aren't giving you anything. Had to sell my house, move back in with my parents. But its fine, as I now work from home, and am slowly rebuilding my income to get back where I need to be.

Sorry to hear about the financial impact. Thats rough.

Having been diagnosed with cancer when I was young and poor, I was so glad that I lived in a country where I didnt need to pay for the healthcare costs.

I live in Canada, that's the most fucked up part. The one country that should have common sense. But all we are is a less toxic America when it comes to social services. I had to appeal the process 4 times, and every time they kept coming back with "You don't have enough hours". And everytime I would repeat the same "But I would if I wasn't forced to quit because of a doctors note".

And you want to know what the most fucked up part is? My company paid me a bonus and said my work term was complete and that I had excelled in what they asked me for. But if they had kept me on payroll for 3 more weeks, but still let me go for my chemo, I would have made triple what they offered me as a bonus. I lost out on so much money from that. At least 5 grand.

well before I was working Wal-Mart. So its night and day a difference in pay. It isn't a lot, but I mean... 20 grand a year? and I get to work from home? The worst part now is that housing has gotten so expensive for my area. Bare minimum houses are 100k higher than they were 5 years ago, but luckily in a couple years I should be in the mid to high 5 figures, so that will help.

That is incredibly fucked up.

On the work front, I only used my annual leave allowance when it happened to me. Didnt even tell one of my employers at the time (I was working two jobs) because I knew theyd cut my hours and I couldnt afford it. Kind of fucked up, but not as bad as your situation.

Get Therapy Bro!

Assuming this is earnest and not copypasta: I believe tc is getting therapy and meds and all that, but there's only so much that can be done for his conditions.

I keep hoping someone just gets the man a hooker.
