No. Animals don't seem to like me. I have cats but I don't really see them as pets or companions. At least not to the extent some people take it. They're beasts, I always respect that distinction and let them do their thing as they will. If they approach me for contact, that's fine, if they'd rather do their own thing that's also fine. I value independence so cats are just more suitable for me.

Yeah, growing up a cat would come around from time to time looking for food. It seemed likely she had other families in the neighborhood, too. Then one day she brought us a kitten and they moved right in. She would later have another litter of kittens in our house. We called her Cindy and she was an amazing hunter. She could catch bats mid flight.

That's how I've gotten almost all my cats over the decades (also a few pigeons and a rabbit)

A cat used to hang around the house I lived at in undergrad. We decided to take it in. Then when we all moved away after graduation I decided to take the cat.

I was a little kid when my parents adopted a stray that just started coming to our doorstep. I also personally rescued a stray that my family kept, if that counts.

In the old apartment complex, I lived in, there was a cat that used to visit our back door area looking for food. The cat came a few times, but one day just all of a sudden stopped coming.

About 20+ years ago there were some stray cats living in our garage. One day one of them was out in the snow having trouble breathing and we took him to the vet. He had an issue where all his internal organs were compressed and out of place (either from genetic issues or trauma like getting hit with a car, we never found out for sure). We paid for the operation to correct it and he lived with us happily for several years. (He had a really hard life, a few years later he had cancer in one of his front paws and had to have it amputated, and a few years after that he died of kidney failure.)

So to answer the question, I guess kind of?

My girlfriend's cat decided she was mine shortly after we moved in together. Now the cat comes and snuggles me instead of her. It will lay curled up in my armpit for hours.

one of our cats walked right up to us christmas day at my parents' house, while we were loading up the car to go home. He was a fancy cat and didn't look like he belonged outside so we took him to check for a chip and reported him missing and all that. Never heard anything about someone looking for him so we kept him
