They're not doing this for people who follow WWE on social media. They're doing it for the people who see a poster with Rock as a headline and watching WrestleMania as a result of it. The people who haven't been watching this stuff for years.

It's like saying a Call of Duty game is going to flop because the trailer has more dislikes on YouTube. Those people are there regardless.

WWE has always been like this. Even for The Rock they put him up against old ass Hulk Hogan for WrestleMania X8. Go to the very first WrestleMania and they hype up guys like Mr T and Muhammad Ali.

They're carnies. They're not soap opera writers. They're not building an in-depth universe. The show exists to sell tickets and subscriptions. The Rock is the biggest draw for the mainstream who otherwise don't give a shit.

Fuck man they used Donald Trump for WrestleMania. They don't have standards. They don't care that you're booing or are angry. They care that you're watching. They are always like this and always will be.

I think Meltzer reported that The Rock wanted Cody to get the same sort of rub that Daniel Bryan got when he had to "fight the system" in order to get his title what like 10 years ago?

Rock turning heel doesn't mean they're disregarding the opportunity to use him at Mania. It's them reacting to the reactions to the storyline and adjusting it in a way that they think will make them more money, discussion and buzz.

The reality is they're not going to get someone like Hogan, The Rock or Steve Austin ever again. Probably not even a John Cena. So they're going to ride them whenever they have the opportunity.

Because they're carnies. The tickets for this year matter more right now than the tickets 5 years from now. They'll worry about that then.

In reality the allegations thrown at Vince and management should be significantly more damaging than a storyline being shitty but again. It's a carnie business. Standards and morals aren't high on the list.

Rock might give the WWE a surge for WrestleMania but if he and any management are smart, Cody is the rightful go to. A quick peak of getting casuals/outsiders' attention will be nothing compared to what Cody brings to the company with a championship run, because I can tell you win or lose, Rock ain't doing shit else in WWE. People are already complaining about how inactive Roman has been for a champion. Now imagine an out of shape, Hollywood occupied part timer that makes Roman look like Seth activity wise. Yeah...no thanks.

Also, when Rock caught Triple H backstage, Roman was following him like a little bro.

Rock gets mad about the match. Fine. He's gonna back Roman. And who's gonna get Cody's back?
