I guess but nothing is that price anymore.

At this point being under $100 is a sale.

Want a turkey? I took this yesterday.

First of all, this is a pre-stuffed turkey, which is going to be more expensive than a plain turkey.

Second, the weights are shown in kilograms, which means this is not from the US, and thus that's not US Dollars. It's probably Canadian, which would be about US$60, and that would mean it's about $3.08 per pound. If it's Australian or New Zealand it's even less.

Probably the most expensive turkey he could find.

I'm going to guess Canada, since the only hit I get for a pre-stuffed Butterball is from Butterball.ca.

It's the only ones they had. Maybe all the cheap ones sold already.
I'm watching for a Christmas ham or turkey. Those birds have been sitting in the store a couple weeks now I think. No one wants to pay that much, it's insane.
But so is $7 for 3 heads of Romain lettuce, $20 for 700g of cheese.

Arguing nickels is dumb it feels.

Took a brief look at the Kroger website and it looks like you're listing roughly twice the price of what stuff is worth near me.

Surprised' no one linked a study/article on it:
https://www.rd.com/article/why-prices-end-in-99/

It's more like one of those sorts of things where if it won't trick you it seems dumb since at the very least it looks like they give away a free product every time it reaches as many sales as the price in cents (assuming it even does). But odds wise it only needs to hit once in a while to be effective and there's many products to increase the odds of it hitting. Thus it does numerous times. Stores probably just figured out after years of experimentation with pricing (Remember that sales of stuff have been documented long before we were even born) that if you do so-and-so stuff like this that in the long run it increases profits.
