Just never had a reason to. Im not sure exactly what it is. I think its just a message board. I know its super popular. Its like reset era? I think thats what it is called? Never been there before either

Nah, I think Resetera requires an account to post, 4chan is anonymous (unless you choose to use a name, but most people don't)

I was going to say that I didnt know you could be completely anonymous on there but I remembered that many video game leaks that come from there usually show an anonymous user

i'd say thats a good thing to have never visited that site.

i wonder if they still openly post illegal porno there. they certainly did back in 06 when i was right into it. Mostly just for the /v/ comics though. Those are mostly lost to time, which is unfortunate.

There's two parts, 4chan and /b. The latter is what everyone thinks of when they they talk about 4chan.

Even now /b isn't what it was.

All it is now is AI generated porn, regular porn, roll threads, logposting and making fake memorials for Cory from Pawn Stars

Ive heard of 4chan years ago and never really thought of checking it out

These days there's really no reason to visit it. In the past, it was reddit before reddit existed. A place that hosted the odd and uncommon hobbies of the early web. Most memes evolved from 4chan and would eventually leak to social media. Honestly, Gfaqs is essentially just 4chan for normies, which should tell you how weird 4chan could be.

/b/'s reputation outlives the actual chaos. Nowadays it's 90% trans porn or gf rate threads. If you ever want to have a discussion that you know will throw a shitshow anywhere else, /r9k/ is the way to go. Also, I maintain that /fit/ is the single best place to get advice for either starters, or those looking for really niche ways to maximize efficiency/gains.

4chan is still better than Reddit for some of those hobbies.

For example, I doubt you'll find much more active communities for riichi mahjong, aside from maybe Discord.

No not really. Personally I think things went downhill once /pol/ overtook /b/. /pol/ won't stay on their containment board and just **** up the rest of the site. Sure it is all degenerate content but it always was. The slide away from being 90% weeb degenerate content and 10% storefront to 90% stormfront is sad.

It's a good place to get info on game leaks and such, but otherwise it's just nonstop shitposting like always >_> /b/ and /pol/ are definitely the shittiest parts of the site but apparently the other hobby boards are pretty good

4chan isnt really a monolith. There is little moderation and boards are somewhat unhinged in general but there is a huge difference between the edgelords on /b/ and /pol/ and the rest of the site. /v/ actually knows its shit, /vg/ is a prime resource for artbooks/osts/mods and in-depth discussion, /po/ just wants to fold origami and so on. Its basically subreddits.

I used to have /b/ and CE open in two separate tabs from 2006-2009 and would switch back and forth. Eventually I had seen enough and stopped visiting 4chan.
