What if our nature of violence and war is not common in the galaxy. And other species are prone to peace. They could have observed us from afar, decided we are savages and stayed away. What if we are shunned weirdos of the galaxy?

There's a theory that the only way a species can get to the top is to outcompete all other species on their planet, and they would do it partly through killing. So if they're the dominant species, they were already competitive killers and likely have violent tendencies themselves like humans do

I don't think so. If you were to view everything that is happening in the world from a microscope, it's not all that bad. There's a lot of beauty in this world. There's also a lot of good as well. Aliens probably had messed up beginnings too. The most likely scenario, if aliens are watching us, is the Zoo hypothesis, where they want us to grow and evolve first before venturing out into the vastness of space (it's probably even crazier out there. Space wars and stuff) We're just not ready yet.

I'm pretty sure life out there and the various space empires and dominions have similar cultures and the way of life that we have.

I've become interested in what astrophysiscists sometimes call the "zoo" or "safari theory" when it comes to alien visits.

If there are beings capable of making it to earth, they just want to observe things here in its native habitat, like going on a safari. They don't really want to engage with anything too much, and they damn sure don't want any of our shit in their home.

Have you seen what our species consumes as food? We eat literally everything; either freshly killed, cooked, fermented or rotten. Any aliens observing us is doing so from a healthy distance or else they'll end up on the menu too.

What if aliens view us as absolute hedonists. Like, alright, we aliens also have tongues, ears, and noses because those are mechanically very useful senses. But some of these humans spend their entire lives trying to get really good at making food that makes their tongue happy and making noises that make their ears happy.

The fun thing about aliens, is you can literally make up whatever sort of culture you want for them. Maybe aliens don't fuck with us because they view us as weak pussy bitches that can't hold their own, so why go talk to that baby race of weaklings that don't even taste good to shove up your butthole after defeating them in combat.

Imagine a technologically advanced alien race shows up and the leader says "Ok, let's test the defenses of this planet" and fires their planet death beam at us, only for the planet to be instantly vaporized and the leader says "Well that was fucking lame. Waste of energy, pathetic planet." And flies away.

I like the subplot in Invincible where there is an alien who comes to Earth every 5 years or so posing an existential threat to the planet and it turns out he's a government inspector sent to test our defenses to see if we have a suitable defender, but accidentally has been coming to the wrong planet because of a typo

If you think about it, if aliens are capable of such things, then they'd probably have colonized the entire galaxy by now. However, we don't see any signs of the galaxy being colonized. Life in our galaxy is probably not even type 1 yet. It's a shame. I bet there are some galaxies out there brimming with empires and prosperity. We were all born in the wrong galaxy and planet :p.

It's because we gross them out, as we're made of meat.

Seriously. (A story sci-fi story was written about it.)

http://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/TheyMade.shtml

"They're made out of meat."

"Meat?"

"Meat. They're made out of meat."

"Meat?"

"There's no doubt about it. We picked up several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, and probed them all the way through. They're completely meat."

"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?"

"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from machines."

"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."

"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines."

"That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat."

"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. These creatures are the only sentient race in that sector and they're made out of meat."

That's true. There's a lot of stars in our galaxy. But if advanced aliens are within our galaxy, why haven't they visited? Here's some reasons: They're not very advanced, they're dead, or they're just starting to explore the galaxy and haven't found us yet. If they're just watching us then I say fuck that. Maybe they don't find us worth the effort of helping and instead watch us as a form of entertainment.

They probably have their own version of YouTube with various clips of us doing stupid shit with zany sound effects that they broadcast through the galactic network.

This is such a laughable theory. I don't know where you people come up with this hypothetical scenario where humans are the only living creatures capable of war and violence.

There is no universe where violence isn't a part of an everyday reality for any living, breathing creature.

It is absolutely more likely that aliens are just as violent and warring as us if not more. They would've used their advanced offensive capabilities to get the upper hand over other advanced ET species.

Just remember, the only potential aliens that could know of us are those who are in range of our broadcasts. And we've only been broadcasting since the beginning of the 20th century.

So, as our transmissions travel at lightspeed, that's a sphere only about 120 light years across... not the whole galaxy.

And that drastically narrows down the number of potentially habitable worlds that could possibly hold life. (let alone intelligent life)

Plus, there's the time factor. Is an intelligent species within that sphere sufficiently advanced to receive and understand our signals? Or are they at a bronze age level? (Or maybe so advanced, they no longer use the electromagnetic spectrum to transmit information. So they don't even have receivers to pick our signals up.)
