There's a lot of beauty in this world. There's also a lot of good as well. Aliens probably had messed up beginnings too. The most likely scenario, if aliens are watching us, is the Zoo hypothesis, where they want us to grow and evolve first before venturing out into the vastness of space (it's probably even crazier out there. Space wars and stuff) We're just not ready yet. And we've only been broadcasting since the beginning of the 20th century. So, as our transmissions travel at lightspeed, that's a sphere only about 120 light years across... not the whole galaxy. And that drastically narrows down the number of potentially habitable worlds that could possibly hold life. (let alone intelligent life) Plus, there's the time factor. Is an intelligent species within that sphere sufficiently advanced to receive and understand our signals? Or are they at a bronze age level? (Or maybe so advanced, they no longer use the electromagnetic spectrum to transmit information.
