Seems like ains has just forgotten that he's actually a nerd looking for his friends and he's just decimating good people for no particular reason now

I mean the story isn't really about him finding other players but more about him dealing with both having his morality stripped from him and having the near infinite powers to do what he wants.

No? It very much is still. The whole point for him making himself the biggest bad of the world through power & market control is so if his friends are in the world they will hear of what's going on & show up so he can more easily find them & then tell them Ains is him.

In an attempt to try and get friends for Aura and Mare and facilitate their growth, Ainz cooks up a scheme to have them mingle with other folks in the kingdom of elves and gain some more knowledge. Unfortunately, he runs into a pompous asshole who is the king of elves (who even planned to bed Aura and Mare for stronger offspring), and learned about a super weapon soldier the Slane Theocracy had in their fold. He decides, "Fuck it. We're getting rid of the Theocracy before they bring more trouble to our doorstep."

Hes making a bigger name for himself, which makes it easier for anyone who knows the name to find out about him. He is only really conquering the world for that purpose, well other than just running with it since he made an offhand comment that his people took to heart.

As long as someone like Albedo keeps appearing then Overlord still has a plot. ( )

I think the idea is gonna be that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I'd love it if he found his friends but they were actively raising their own armies and factions from across the world... like, they all basically planned for how to defeat someone as strong as each other?

Ainz is operating under the assumption other player characters will show up and try to kill him. He is planning to fight someone like himself.

It's kinda neat when you watch it with that lens. He is planning to fight another him and these are the lengths he will go to to ensure the safety of himself and his people.
